Final project conference

The final project conference was held at the Lower Saxony State Chancellery in Brussels on the 19th of November 2015. The main aims of the conference were to present and discuss indicators and methodological solutions to main challenges in environmental evaluations such as establishing robust cause-effects relationships and consideration of sample selection issues, and to review existing data gaps and discuss the cost-effectiveness of improved and targeted environmental monitoring programmes for RDP evaluations. In addition, key elements of the methodological handbook for environmental evaluations of RDPs developed in the ENVIEVAL project were presented and discussed. The conference was attended by evaluators, scientists, representatives from monitoring organisations and managing authorities and representatives from the European Commission.

Second international stakeholder workshop

The second international stakeholder workshop with evaluators and representatives from managing authorities and the European Evaluation Network for Rural Development took place on the 2nd and 3rd of July 2014 in Budapest.

The main aims of the stakeholder workshop were to review the stakeholder relevance of the logic models of the methodological framework and the cost-effectiveness assessment and to discuss the practical relevance of the case studies in the context of the forthcoming ex-post evaluations and future evaluation tasks in the period 2014 – 2020. The workshop was attended by evaluation experts and government representatives from 12 EU member states, by the EENRD Helpdesk and the EC project officer. The workshop included sessions on the EENRD guidelines for the ex-post evaluations, the role of logic models for the selection of suitable evaluation methods, key aspects of the cost-effectiveness assessment of evaluation methods and a synthesis of the public good case studies to test different evaluation methods. Based on the outcome of these sessions, key aspects of the different public good case studies for the forthcoming RDP evaluations were discussed in break-out groups.
